Popsicle Break

This was sent me by our friend Jim. Thanks, Jim!!

The only way to pull off a Sunday afternoon quickie with their 8 year old son in the apartment was to send him out on the balcony with a Popsicle and tell him to report on all the neighborhood activities.

He began his commentary as his parents put their plan into operation.

“There’s a car being towed from the parking lot”, he shouted.

A few moments passed .. “An ambulance just drove by”

A few moments later,” Looks like the Anderson’s have company”, he called out.

“Matt’s riding a new bike….”

A few moments later, ‘Looks like the Sanders are moving”

“Jason is on his skate board….”

A few more moments, “The Coopers are having sex !!”

Startled, his Mother and Dad shot up in bed! Dad cautiously called out,

“How do you know they are having sex ?”

“Jimmy Cooper is standing on his balcony with a Popsicle too.”

Conscious Listening

I mention Brian Vaszily quite often because he’s a guy who knows how to live. Today’s Intense Experience is here:

Conscious Listening

Twice I tried to listen today. The first time I heard the hum of two computers (we live in a very quiet neighborhood). The second time I heard Trav, Sadie and my footsteps on the asphalt, at least three birds, a plane, people talking far away and a low hum of traffic. What do you hear? Share in the comments, if you like. :)

The Story of Stuff

Here’s a great video about our flawed production system. We’re making and consuming too much stuff. It’s a 20 minute video and definitely worth a look. It makes me glad we hardly ever shop at Wal-Mart.

Scary

Recently, a good friend of ours was diagnosed with lung cancer. He’s pretty young and has no insurance, and is finding out exactly how our healthcare system is a mess… not much help for a regular, middle-class person. I’m concerned for our friend but unsure how to be supportive without being pushy, as he’s a very independent and strong-willed kind of guy. Exactly the attitude to get a person through something like this!

Monday I’m going with him to get a port put in his neck, for chemo. Hopefully everything goes well. I’m planning to wander around in downtown New Port Richey, something I’ve wanted to do for a while. There’s lots of little shops and stuff.

Anyways, we shall see how things go. Here’s a helpful article about some things to do if you are diagnosed with cancer. Take care, everybody!!

I wonder…

How many people use their cell phones in the bathroom? It’s kind of strange when I hear somebody talking and we’re the only two people in a public restroom. I was talking with someone today and she flushed the toilet, but I think she was cleaning because of visiting in-laws. But it made me wonder how often it happens. Do you answer your phone in the bathroom? Feel free to comment … it’s easier now, anybody who knows a little math can contribute. :)

Neat Pictures

The site is in German, but the pictures speak for themselves…

Lustige Fotos, lustige Bilder

Must be in German, weiter is next, zurück is previous?
